Learn about becoming a Lion, and how you can help!
1. Your Name: Andrea Bledsoe King
2. How long have you been a member of the Bartlett Lions Club? I was inducted in August, 2023.
3. Why did you join the Lions Club? I had carpal tunnel release surgeries in May and June of 2023, and was on medical leave. I was searching the internet for something to get involved with since I was not allowed to go back to work yet. I saw Bartlett had a chapter and it was within driving distance. (I was limited in my driving at the time.) I knew about the Lions Club from donating my glasses when I was a kid. When I joined, I realized we do so much more.
4. What has been your favorite project or event as a Lion? Why?
I have been on the Leadership Team for Letters Against Isolation for 4 years now, so I really appreciate other Lions “fighting senior loneliness one letter at a time.”
5. How has being a Lion impacted your life? I am kinder than I was before. I get to be part of the Lions Community by serving our community/
6. What would you say to someone who is considering joining the Lions Club? Thank you.
7. Fun fact about yourself: My husband and I have adopted 2 pit mixes- Murphy Alexander (RIP) and Brutus Augustus in our 16 years of marriage. We would love to own and run a pit bull and pittie mix sanctuary called GO, DOG, GO once we retire from the “real” world.
8. Anything else you’d like to add? I would like for everyone to read Maya Angelou’s poem, Continue.
